Après avoir été professeur agrégé d’EPS en collège et lycée professionnel, puis maître de conférences en 2010 et Habilité à Diriger des Recherches en 2020, Nicolas Mascret est aujourd’hui professeur des universités à l’Inspé d’Aix-Marseille. Il est depuis février 2024 vice-président d'Aix-Marseille Université délégué à la vie étudiante. Il effectue ses recherches au sein de l'Institut des Sciences du Mouvement de Marseille (ISM, UMR7287, AMU-CNRS). Il est directeur-adjoint de l’ISM . Ses recherches en STAPS s’inscrivent dans le cadre de la psychologie sociale et de la psychologie sociale expérimentale. Elles portent notamment sur la motivation, le stress / l’anxiété et l’acceptabilité des technologies, qui sont étudiés dans le domaine scolaire et dans le domaine du sport et de l’activité physique. Il est depuis le 1er août 2022 le Responsable Scientifique et Technique du projet AMPIRIC.
